Welcome to the Whittier Host Lions web site! Since 1922, when we were chartered, we have provided people in our community an opportunity to give something back to our community. While we are known for our focus on sight and hearing assistance, we also provide resources in other ways to improve our community. In the past five years, in addition to providing free eye examinations and eyeglasses to hundreds of Whittier area school age children, Whittier Host Lions have donated over $600,000 back into our community including major donations to the Boy's & Girl's Club of Whittier, YMCA Camp Arbolado, Oralingua School, Intercommunity Counseling Center, and the Pediatrics Unit at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. We have also provided many hours of volunteer support.
To learn more about our club and our programs please click on the web link above. In addition, we sponsored a Leo's club at Whittier High School where over 65 High School students can volunteer and develop valuable leadership skills.
Please check out our outstanding weekly Main Lion to keep up to date on our activities - just click on Main Lion on the menu on the left border. We are part of Lions International, the largest service club in the world with more than 46,000 clubs in 204 countries and nearly 1.4 million members.
I would like to extend a warm invitation to anyone who would like to learn more about Lionism and the good work that we do. We have welcomed over 20 new Lions into our club this past year! If you would like to contact me, please click on my name on the link above and leave me a message.
Our mission in Whittier Host Lions and Lions International has never wavered: "We Serve."
Again, thank you for visiting our site. We hope you find the information helpful.
Sincerely,
Al Campano
President, 2009-2010

| Whittier Host Lion Larry Dicus elected District Governor 2009-2010 - Lions District 4-L2 at District Convention in Palm Springs |
Thank you fellow Whittier Host Lions!!
Nearly 20 club members attended Lions District 4-L2 convention in Palm Springs from May 28-31, 2009 to support the election of Larry Dicus as District Governor 2009-2010. Whittier Host Lions is having a significant positive impact on all District 4-L2 Lions.
Whittier Host's Lion Wayne Martin entertained and inspired Friday Luncheon attendees by conducting the Byron Thompson Hand bell Choir – there was not a dry eye in the room. At the finale of the performance the choir accompanied club members as they sang Quakertown to the attendees.
Larry is humbled to serve as the 4th Whittier Host Lion in the club's proud 87 year history as District Governor of our Lions District. It has been 20 years since Lion Dave York represented the club so well.
“Empowered to Serve” is DG Larry’s mantra for this year. He believes that Lions clubs who tap into the resources of Lions Clubs International (LCI) have greater impact in their communities. He is committed to helping clubs in District 4-L2 gain access to more LCI programs, including LCIF grants.
